Absentee Voting
Application:
Any registered voter may vote by absentee ballot including military and overseas voters. You must submit an application for a ballot for each election in which you wish to vote.
You may download an application for an absentee ballot from the State of Maryland Board of Elections at:
http://www.elections.state.md.us/voting/2008_absentee_info.html
or you may contact the Talbot County Election Board to request that an application be mailed to you. Applications are also available at the Talbot County Republican Headquarters at 7 Federal Street in Easton. To use this form, enter the required information, print the form, sign it, and send it to or drop it off at the Talbot County Board of Elections.
A request for an absentee ballot for the 2008 Presidential Elections must be received by fax, mail or at the Election Board office by October 28, 2008. Faxed applications will be accepted until 11:59 pm on that day.
After the deadline, a Late Application for Absentee Ballot must be completed in person at the board of elections.
Ballots are typically available for mailing approximately three weeks before an election. Ballots may also be picked up at the Talbot County Election Board after that time.
Completing and returning the ballot:
Instructions for completing the ballot are printed on the ballot mailer. After completing the ballot, return it by mail or in person to the Talbot County Election Board. To be counted, the voted ballot must be received at the Election Board by 8:00 p.m. on election day; or be mailed on or before election day, bearing a postmark verifying that fact, and received by the Election Board from the postal service or private mail carrier by 10:00 a.m. on November 14, 2008.
Important Note: Do not take your voted absentee ballot to the polls on election day. A voted absentee ballot turned in at the polls will not be counted.
Voters with specific questions should contact the Talbot County Election Board at 410-770-8099 or the Maryland State Board of Elections at 800-222-8683.
